How do you feel your ECT experience has been so far?

It has been really positive. The staff are supportive, the consultants are always there to help you and it’s always been a delight to come in in the mornings and greet everyone and the children.

Could you tell me a highlight of your ECT journey?

One of the highlights has been working alongside my partner teacher, she was also new to Harris, so we have been on the journey together and become good friends. Also, meeting and greeting all the children every day and making those relationships has been a huge highlight.

What would you say to someone considering a role at the Harris Federation?

You get so much support from the staff, and you have the consultants to help you. So, if there is anything you are stuck with or need or are confused about, they will always be there to help you. Also, the management team and SLT are always so helpful.

What would you say to someone considering a role at Harris Primary Academy Philip Lane?

I would say you will feel really involved with the staff, you build good relationships with the children, and you are well supported. We also have booklets on Friday so that helps in terms of identifying your strengths and development for each topic, they will look at different subjects and tell you what you need to improve on, which for an ECT is immensely helpful.

What do you love most about being a Teacher?

Making sure that every child is happy at school and being the person that they go to when they need something or if they are stuck or need someone to talk to. It is so nice to be engaged with the children and just make sure that whenever they are having a bad day, you are always there to help them.
