DfE data shows Harris students make more academic progress than in any other large Trust

Students at the Harris Federation make more academic progress than students at any other large multi-academy trust in the country, according to the latest league tables released by the Department for Education (DfE).

This data measures the progress made by pupils, taking into account the expectations of them at the end of primary school and the progress they make by the end of secondary school.

In response to the data, Sir Dan Moynihan, Chief Executive said, “At Harris, our mission is to transform the life chances of the most deprived and disadvantaged children – and the data shows just how well our academies do. Students from these backgrounds, from the poorest families in the country, don’t just make more progress than other disadvantaged students nationally, but more than all students nationally, and more than at any other large Trust”. To make this possible, we have a strong culture of high expectations and a commitment to providing the best possible education to all our students.

Harris is one of only two large Trusts where disadvantaged young people achieve more in their GCSEs than what was expected of them based on their test scores at the age of 11; in other large Trusts, disadvantaged children make less progress than expected. From this information, Sir Dan highlighted the importance of the work Harris is doing, “On average, disadvantaged students do poorly in England, therefore the work of Harris in reversing this trend is absolutely vital”.

A massive congratulations to all our students and staff for their hard work and dedication to achieve such excellent results and progress. This demonstrates the improved life chances we can give the young people we work with, and a shining example of what can be achieved when schools are driven by a commitment to excellence and a belief that every child can succeed.
