Harris Academy Greenwich's George McMillan on student behaviour Rss

Posted on: November 27th 2017

George McMillan, Principal of Harris Academy Greenwich, spoke to Liam Donnison from SecEd about his approach to behaviour.

George described what happened when he and Executive Principal Chris Tomlinson arrived at Harris Greenwich’s predecessor, Eltham Green School, in 2011. The school had been placed in special measures after it was deemed inadequate in 29 out of the 31 categories that Ofsted used at the time. Under their leadership, results improved rapidly and by 2014 Harris Greenwich was ‘outstanding’ in every category.

Having overseen such a significant transformation, George stressed the importance of being clear about expectations regarding behaviour and ensuring that one badly behaved student does not disrupt an entire classroom.
